You absolutely need a properly fitting boot to enjoy this sport.

Note: it's better to size down than size up because a boot with too much room can cause blisters.

Choosing the right size cross-country ski boots is crucial for your comfort, performance, and prevention of injury.

Let SENDY help you determine the correct size:

Understand Sizing Systems: cross-country ski boots are typically sized using the European (EU) sizing system. Know your EU size, as it might differ from your regular shoe size. Most manufacturers provide size conversion charts to help you translate your US or UK shoe size to EU sizes.

Foot Measurement: measure your foot length by standing on a piece of paper and marking the longest point (heel to toe) in centimeters. Foot width can also impact boot fit, so measure the widest part of your foot.

Try Them On: when trying on boots, wear the socks you plan to use while skiing. Thicker socks will change the fit. The boot should feel snug but not too tight. Your toes should be able to wiggle slightly. The heel should remain in place without lifting when you walk. Properly lace or buckle the boots and stand up. Check for any pressure points or areas that feel too tight.

Consider Boot Type and Use

Classic boots are usually softer & more flexible, offering more room for movement.

Skate boots are generally stiffer for better support and power transfer.

Combi boots are hybrids that offer features for both classic and skate skiing. They require a fit that balances comfort and support.

Manufacturer Guidelines: each brand might have slight variations in sizing. Check the manufacturer’s sizing guide for specific recommendations. Brands like Salomon, Fischer, and Rossignol provide detailed charts and guidelines.

Test and Comfort: walk around in the boots to make sure they’re comfortable. Bend your knees and mimic skiing motions to check for comfort and support during these movements.

Expert Advice: consult a ski shop expert. They’ll provide insights and help you with fittings, especially if you have unique foot shapes, high arches, or flat feet.

Return Policy: check the store or brand's return policy. If possible, buy from a place that allows returns or exchanges after you try the boots at home.

Follow these steps to find the right size cross-country ski boots and remember, Comfort is key!
