Dual-Zone vs Single-Zone BOA

Dual-Zone BOA vs Single-Zone

The term "dual-zone BOA" refers to a specific type of closure system used in cycling shoes and other sports footwear. BOA Technology produces closure systems based on a dial-driven design, allowing for quick and precise adjustment of the fit.

A dual-zone BOA system has two separate adjustment zones, often with two dials, allowing you to independently tighten or loosen different parts of the shoe, optimizing the fit and comfort, especially in cycling shoes where a secure fit is essential for efficient power transfer while pedaling.

In cycling shoes with a dual-zone BOA system, one dial controls the tightness of the lower part of the shoe, securing the foot around the lower instep, while the second dial controls the upper part, securing the foot around the ankle. This allows you to customize the fit to different parts of your feet, providing a more comfortable and efficient riding experience.

The BOA closure system is known for its durability, lightweight design, and ease of use. Cyclists and athletes in various sports appreciate the ability to make on-the-fly adjustments with a simple turn of the dial, allowing for a secure and personalized fit.

Single-Zone

A single-zone BOA refers to a closure system with only one adjustment zone controlled by a single BOA dial. In contrast to dual-zone BOA systems, where there are two separate dials for independent adjustment of different areas, a single-zone BOA system adjusts the entire closure system simultaneously.

In cycling shoes with a single-zone BOA closure, turning the dial tightens or loosens the tension across the entire shoe, affecting the fit around the entire foot. While it offers a simpler and more straightforward adjustment compared to dual-zone systems, it doesn't allow for independent customization of different areas of the shoe.

Single-zone BOA closures are often chosen for their simplicity and ease of use. They still provide a quick and precise way to fine-tune the fit of the footwear, and many users find them convenient for on-the-go adjustments.

The choice between single-zone and dual-zone BOA systems comes down to the needs of the specific activity, and the level of customization for fit and comfort you prefer.
